summer so far
-Since I'm sure yall miss the reminders, here's one last one: It's official, I'm another year older, another year wiser, 21, and at this rate, another year closer to death...who knew that non-stop drinking for a month could hurt so damn bad?? It's been a really long time since I last updated the blogosphere so here's some of the random thoughts I've had since then:
-I hate jetskis: this summer, Jamison excitedly introduced me to the world of the sea-doo (that looks a lot funnier on the computer screen than it does on the actual jetski) for the first time in my life. After spending much of my life in boats, I automatically felt weary on the jetski thanks to the speed and lack of distance between me and the water...and that was before my second ride. After nicely declining Kyle's offer to take me out, I got suckered into going with Adam...HUGE mistake. While going roughly 65mph, Adam took a sharp turn that resulting in the flipping of the jetski and the bowling ball sized bruise on my leg. ouch.
-the World Cup is over: the end of the World Cup to me is just as tragic as the end of college football season...if not more. College football comes and goes once a year, every year while the Cup only blesses my life every 4. I am well aware that many people reading this right now do not care for Soccer and to yall I say "to each their own." I too have to admit that I expected more from the final game but my disappointment stemmed from my lack of enthusiasm for Spain and the Netherlands. I personally was rooting for Italia, Argentina, USA and Germany towards the end. I must admit I'm still a little heartbroken that Germany, the team of my future husband Manuel Neuer, didnt go all the way. But back to my point before my favorite team rant: the only thing I really didnt enjoy about the cup this year was everyone's rather rude lack of compassion. Look, I dont care who does or doesnt like, appreciate, care about or understand soccer but to all of yall, bloggers and journalists alike, that claim "no one cares" about it, go suck a dick. I agree that soccer really isnt "America's sport" but that doesnt give anyone the right to so naively group all of us in such an ignorant statement. "No one cares" is almost as ridiculous as "Soccer is a Communistic sport;" But hey, the way Obama is running this country, communism may be in our future...hell ya, more soccer.
-After 2 years of obsession and disappointment, David Slade finally did it; he made a Twilight movie worth watching. As I'm sure many already know, Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn are among my favorite books and movies but at least now one of the movies is legitimately decent.
-Speaking of Vampires, the wait is over, True Blood has once again consumed my Sunday nights. Though the first few episodes havent lived up to True Blood's jaw-dropping standards, I have a feeling that next week's episode is going to be perfect. Here is my quick review that will only be understood by those who watch the show: thank God Bill is gone, now if only he'd take Franklin, the creepy new Vampire, with him. I am a HUGE fan of Alcide, and the werewolf plot, though its beginning to look a lot like Twilight. Sookie really needs to forget about Bill, especially when she has bigger and better things, a.k.a. Eric, right in front of her. I am dying to know what kind of magical powers Sookie has and why everyone is after her. I have a horrible feeling about the Mickens family. I don't think Arlene's baby is Terry's. I think Tara is about to become a vampire which I do not like but her cousin, Lafayette, is back to being himself after the short break last season thanks to vampire prison.
-The second most exciting thing about the return of True Blood is the return of Entourage. I have watched it religiously for years but am afraid to say that I don't think it has many seasons left...I feel as if each character is coming to the end of their story...so sad
-I have had an awesome July so far and June was also noteworthy. This is quickly catching up with the frontrunner, Summer 2008, in the "best summer of my life" race.-In 6 days, I embark on my 2nd trip to Athens this summer...at least this one will be more successful than the last one since Gools, Jamo and I leave for Gov't Mule and Dave Matthews Band in ATL on tuesday!!! Dave and Warren, what a pair. If anyone is feeling spontaneous, I have a hotel room for the concert so come on up or at least join us in Athens for the remainder of the week.
-I'm about to take another step towards being a grown up...I'm deleting my FarmVille.
-Questions: When does it become comfortable to drink in front of your parents? I've been 21 for a month but am pretty sure I'd still feel awkward as shit if I cracked open a beer in front of mine. Maybe it's because on my 4th night spending the night out since the big birthday my mom said "Jesus, Kathryn, chill out on the drinking." I wish my parents hadn't painted some naive picture of me in their heads...if I only I wasn't impeccable at keeping shit from them.
-I really need to get better at saving money. There are so many places I want to go and so many concerts I want to see but I'm too poor to go to any of them.
-Is there any way to get rid of voicemail on cell phones? I can't stand it anymore. To me, the only purpose behind voicemail is saying "Hey ____, It's _____. I know you dont have my number so I'm leaving you a voicemail to identify the random unknown number."
-I know, what a weak post for my first time back in over a month but I am more ADD now than ever before...just be glad I talk too much to delete this along with my farmville

a best friend's guide to my birthday

The beauty above is known as the David Yurman Noblesse ring...I will take it in Black Onyx or Morganite. The kind people at Levy Jewelers will help you out. It will probably be easier to afford if everyone pools their money together but I have no objections to getting just one present if it is this beautiful.

And this adorable creature is a Scottish native known as the Border Collie. As most of you know, I originally begged for an Australian Shepherd, of which will also be accepted with open arms... but after becoming painfully aware that my 13yr old puppy is slowly nearing the end of her unfairly short life (I am crying if you were wondering...she's my most loyal and best friend and the reason I love dogs more than life itself) I have decided that every dog I get for the rest of my life will be of Scottish decent in her honor. Since she is a West Highland White Terrior named Nessie, my next dog will be a Border Collie named either Wallace, Finlay, Wylie, Camden or Annabelle...all of which are typical Scottish and/or Gaelic names. You may think I'm pathetic but you probably don't know my family very well...my dad bought a Clan Hamilton kilt...FOR HIS BEER. That's right, folks, my dad spent $20 on a kilt koozie...it's actually more awesome than you'd think. Long story short, Scotland and my dog are massive parts of my life and I intend to keep it that way and I want this puppy more than that ring...that's saying alot.
to clarify: no, I don't expect either of the above from anyone, not even my family, all I really want is the company of friends as cliche as that sounds.

beach bummers
If it's not apparent enough, the title of this blog is what I would like to consider a pretty clever pun. If you still don't get it, hopefully you will by the end...
Beach Bummer #1: Today started off pretty dumpy when I was put under the impression that my friends dipped out on me and the boat day that I wanted oh-so-bad...so I made the exective decision to call my river rat of a brother. He immediately responded by saying that I was too late and he was leaving the Landings harbor to pick Mason up from a dock on the Willmington River. Conveniently enough, Sarah and I were in bathingsuits walking out the door to head to Tybee so it was extremely simple to change our destination to 1708 Wilmington Island Road. It seemed as if everything was building up to be a perfect day on the river...until karma attacked Sarah. Or as Andrew put it, boderline raped and pillaged her...
In the process of unloading the boat and setting up on the beach, I stepped on something slimy. Though my first thought was sting ray until I talked myself out of it with thoughts of cannon ball jellyfish and/or clay. Apparently, I was wrong in every sense of the word...very soon after my brush with Steve Irwin's killer, Sarah experienced it first hand. As soon as I heard the blood curdling screams, I immediately assumed Sarah was having one of her overreaction moments. Once again, I was proven very wrong. Jeremy, Mason, Andrew and I stood in around with looks of sheer confusion that only worsened when shown the gaping wound where her ankle used to be. After half-assedly taping Sarah up, Mason and Jeremy carried her back out to the boat while Andrew made sure it didn't float away. The guys radioed the Landings Harbor and by the time we pulled in, a fire truck and ambulance were waiting for us...lights on and all. It was actually slightly hilarious.
To avoid the obnoxious ambulance fee, Sarah sucked it up and let me drive her to the hospital where we learned a very valuable piece of information. Question for Tybee lifeguard and mascot, Bear Williams, to prove his ocean rescue abilities of course...do not google, do not phone a friend, do not pass go...just answer: what is the best and fastest way to ease the pain of a sting ray sting?
Sarah is recovering with the help of crutches, a numbing shot that she actually didn't need Valium to get (are you convinced that your fear of needles is absurd yet?), lortab and friends that care way too much. Just be warned that if you ever want to get her out on the boat, be fully prepared to piggy back her to the beach.
Beach Bummer #2: It's official, I have to work at 4:30 on Friday...aka Beach Bum. I'm pretty upset but not for the reasons you'd think: I don't give a rat's ass about the parade, traffic is unbearable and am not a huge fan of getting doused in freezing cold water but just the fact that everyone is going to be down there getting drunk while I'm at work is downright depressing. I'm also a little nervous because Friday nights are our busiest nights and I've never had to serve one before...I might have a stress&nerves induced breakdown. RECAP: So not only am I missing Beach Bum, work is going to take me to a whole new stress level. THE BRIGHT SIDE: since I'm a fabulous employee and didn't put "I want off on beach bum" stress on Pattycake's shoulders, I'm getting my 2nd and 3rd favorite holidays (1st is St. Patty's day of course) off! And for those of you who can't figure it out, I dont have to work my birthday weekend OR July 4th weekend!!! Not to mention, come beach bum I will only have 2 weeks till my 21st birthday and I'd love to stay out of trouble.
In Other News: A Bear shared his shrimp with me a few nights ago....Oh, and if you were curious, their snores are comparable to the sounds of a Freight Train. STILL.
-18 DAYS TILL I'M 21!!! Time to start planning the birthday extravaganza...any ideas?
-it's still summer...hellllll ya
-JULIA WAS IN SAVANNAH and it was everything I wanted it to be...I am finally whole again.
-why is every new movie in 3D? I hate wearing glasses while trying to watch a movie/TV. Besides, the 3D is never quite right...or at least it isn't to me.
-Sarah's new nickname is "Irwin" and I will allow her to answer to only that...lets make this one stick.

summertime and the livin's easy
-work is starting to become a bummer simply because weekends are when I'm needed most and weekends also happen to be when most people head out on the river. I'm sick of getting "come to williamson!" texts because I can't...on the bright side, I don't have to feel like the mooching friend that begs people to take me out on the boat.
-reason #696472964852 why I love summer: my biggest worry so far has been "who's going to the beach with me?"
-New Jersey, Orange County, Atlanta, New York, you name it...I love it. The "Real Housewives" reality series is my TV trash obsession.
-I love the new AT&T commercial with the song from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Probably just because I love the song.
-I'm still a little upset that we never got the monsterous "thunderstorms" that were threatening my tan for days...not because I didn't go to the beach, but because I miss the thunderstorms; they're one of my favorite parts of summer.
-I really need to stop shopping without Sarah. About 98% of the time I buy something without her there, I end up returning it. Haha it's pathetic, I know.
-30 days till my birthday...I want a suprise party. But to be warned, I'll figure it out. I've just never really had a birthday party and won't really care enough to have one after this one. ANDDDD I still want a puppy so keep that in mind.
-Got out in the river today and it was complete perfection...we had the whole beach to ourselves which meant Bocce with the big leagues. It seems as if I have finally inherited the Summerell bocce gene seeing as I kept up with my brother and actually won a game...that has NEVER happened before. Jeremy is a bocce badass. (p.s. if you've ever been curious, the picture above is my brother [second from the left] and his friends playing "all-terrain bocce" in the dunes of williamson)
-to anyone who sees me on a beach this summer: REMIND ME TO WEAR SUNSCREEN! please and thank you...I know Sarah, you tell me everytime but do I ever listen to you? kidding
-after going so long without one, I have finally remembered that the worst part of summer is the 8pm hangover...theyre so much more bearable when you have 12 hours to sleep them off as opposed to 12 minutes on the couch
-I think Miley needs to tone it down a little...the song is actually kinda catchy and I do think she (well her makeup at least) looks pretty but has she forgotten that she's 17yrs old?? I get it...when I was 17 I thought I was a billy badass too but the only difference is that I didn't have every kid in America looking up to me as a role model. Good lord the average age at which kids lose their virginity nowadays is 12...thanks Britney, Christina and now Miley...'preciate the influence.
-I have a final tomorrow at 1...say it with me: s-c-r-e-w-e-d.
-Friday had all the potential to be a great day&night combo until I got suckered into working a double on Saturday. In case you were wondering, a double as a server on a Saturday is a 13+ hour shift...f*ckkkkkk
-Goolia, the love of my life, IS COMING TO SAVANNAH for Pegasus's birthday on Tuesday!!! Hopefully Peg will share my best friend with me and allow her to spend at least one night at my house since I think we all know I had the hardest time coping with her semester in Italy :( you should see the pathetic puppy dog face I'm making right now...Sarah saw it today...it's quality.
-Wait, I remembered another thing I hate about summer...peeling.
-Ok, where are the new seasons of TrueBlood and Entourage?! Jack and I are going to need stuff to do on Sunday nights (other than sitting at Molly McGuire's...Jack's second home)

holy hangover...hellooooo summer
For the past couple of years, I have been convinced that summer of '08 was going to forever be the "best summer of my life," but I think this summer may be a close runner-up...I had to work last night (of course Patrick makes me work my enitre first weekend of summer) which pissed me off because I immediately though "goodbye summer...I've sold my soul my job" but I was proven wrong. Of course everyone went to the Sand Gnats game so I assumed I wouldnt see them since my ID is miserable and the ritual is Baseball then Tubby's...not last night, though. I met up with Kyle, Jordan, Tyler, Kelly, Brad and others at Shuckers and the rest was a blur. But a great one. It was the night I needed to confirm my expectations for this summer.
I just got my first (and sadly, probably last) $300 paycheck from Molly McGuire's. Since servers only make $2.15 an hour, and all of it goes to taxes, I hope I make the tips people keep claiming I'll make. Since Molly's is only my second job, I've never had a solid cashflow over the summer but I've always had a great time...now that I have money, things are going to be that much better.
I love birthdays and the summer is full of them. Juan turns 21 on Wednesday, Pegasus turns 21 on May 11th, MY BIRTHDAY IS IN 36 DAYS!!! Meg's 21st birthday celebration in New York on June 19th. Griffin's birthday is June 22nd and Brad's is June 30th. There aren't many birthdays in July, I don't think but I'm hoping for a Blue Goose repeat for Adam's bday in August. After him come Ike and Mallory whose birthdays are in August and November and then Monica in December. As I said, I love birthdays and turning 21 makes them even better.
Did I mention that I'm going to New York for Meg's 21st?! Hellllll yeh. Now if only I could find people willing to go to the Bahamas for mine...
my other half is no longer in Italy...GOOLIA IS HOME!!!!!!!! And I've reminded her of that every 5 minutes since her plane landed. I send her messages just because I can...and all of them just say "OMG I can text you now!" Until Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" came on the TV show I'm watching...It's our song. It was a sign.
July 4th is just two months away...hope I won't have to work. Yes, I plan this far ahead. Is it too soon to ask for it off?
Just applied to Southern since Armstrong doesn't have the major I want to change mine to...hope I get in (never thought that sentence was going to come out of my mouth)
I really want to go see Dave and Gov't Mule in ATL on July 27th and Widespread Panic in Charlotte on July 30th & 31st. Well, Gools and I already have tickets from the Dave concert but hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in some panic...it's been too long. (jonathan...dont attempt one of your smartass comments)
I want a damn dog! So for all of yall thinking to yourselves "hmm what can I get Kathryn for her birthday?!" The answer is a dog. I like border collies, australian shepherds, golden retrievers and black or chocolate labs. Please and Thank you.
One month the Sex and the City 2 comes out in theaters. I can feel the excitement (and the massive hole that series about beautiful clothes puts in my wallet) already.
I would write more but I have to leave here for work in 10 minutes...hah like thats gonna happen. Moving a little slow today. Helloooooo SUMMER :)

be young, be foolish but be happy
I still love working at Molly McGuire's as much as I did 3 weeks ago. Actually, I may love it more now. I am training to serve which means more cash flow is in the near future and it's a lot more entertaining than hostessing. I had to hostess alone last night from 5-8 (I got cut obnoxiously early) and it was miserable. All of the servers hung out in the kitchen while waiting for their order to come up but I, being the only hostess, couldn't leave my stand. I felt like the little kid in time-out that can't play with the others. The only other thing that frustrates me is my co-workers' undying interest in my lackluster love life. In their minds they have created a perfect relationship between me and (hah did you really think I was going to bring names into this?) and it's beginning to get old. We hear it all the time. We never act on it. Hearing it from 10 basic strangers isn't going to change our minds so back off. Please and thanks. Other than that, it's perfect:
-I walked out of the restaurant with $50 in my hand yesterday thanks to everyones willingness to share their tips.
-a firefighter gave me $5 on Saturday for finding him a table? which is my job...but hey, he was just trying to be nice and it was probably one of the highlights of my weekend.
-the band we had on Saturday played great music...such as "be young, be foolish, be happy" which is a personal favorite.
-I have decided that more of my spare time will be spent at the restaurant because if I don't meet my future husband there, It'll never happen. That place is constantly swarming with beautiful people.
-I love getting to see Steve and Ms Christina (jack's parents) all the time...they always put me in a better mood.
-I get to see some interesting (for the lack of a better word) people on a daily basis. For example, I met the tannest man alive the other day. No really, find the darkest wood furniture you have in your house and imagine a white man that is the same color...he was tanner than that. Basically, he was teeter-tottering on the racial edge.
-My friends have decided that they love hanging out there which means that even when I'm at work, I get to hang out with them. It's pretty convenient.
-if you haven't figured it out yet, I love my job (well, my restaurant job)
Since I wrote the above portion a whole week ago, here is a more recent update on the happenings of my life:
-It's my last week at the bridal shop...hallelujah.
-40 days till my 21st!!! holy anticipation.
-I am 3 days and two 10pg papers away from SUMMER. In all seriousness, I will pay someone good money to write a paper or two. There is no way I'm getting either one day.
-I think I may be taking a semester off of school? I dont know how I feel about it yet...but AASU doesn't have the major I want so it's either online college, SSU or GSU. Chances are I'll end up commuting to Southern...which will be terrible but a degree from there will go further than a degree from Savannah State, right?
-GOOLIA COMES HOME ON THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes, I really am that excited.
-I think I may go to DMB in ATL and West Palm. I mean, why not? I have a job so I can do stuff like that...
-I am way past due for a trip to Charleston.
-I cannot wait for everyone to get home over the next couple of weeks
-I'm forcing my brother to take me out on our boat so I can prove to him that I know what I'm doing. Once that happens, I get the boat all to myself (seeing as he's got a 5 month old at home)...hello williamson alllllll summer.
-If someone could get Sarah Lundgren to call me back, I'd greatly appreciate it. I feel like I havent talked to her in days.
-2nd annual Regatta-Knotta is scheduled for July 10th...I highly suggest you save the date.
-The first Reeling for Robbie fishing tournament is the night before my birthday (June 5th). Everyone better be there. NO excuses (play like a champion).

growing older but not up
I am currently at Bella Mia, my day job, and will be leaving here at 12 to make sure Nessie gets her medicine on time. I'm going to make a whopping $10 dollars at this store today. What is the point of my presence? Oh wait, I'm here so everyone else can run around town (on the clock) and leave me to do everything on my own. For those of yall who've never worked in a bridal shop, there is a lot of shit that employees are supposed to know that I have yet to learn due to the short time I've worked here. People call and ask questions that I can't answer. Again, my anxiety level rises. On top of that, I simply just don't enjoy this job anymore. I am grateful for the opportunity, and the paycheck, but I now know that I am not meant to work in the land of retail. If I get doomed to working a job I hate as an adult, I'm going to need a xanax presricption.
After I leave here, I get to go home to let the dog out, force feed her medicine, bathe her (since she decided to play in the rain and mud last night), feed the cat and then take him to get his nails clipped. All of that has to happen around my lunch, shower and laundry preparation for Molly McGuire's at 5. Now I should have plenty of time but the length of my to-do list is discouraging for a 3 hour time window. It would really help if my brother could help out since he's unemployed and everything but he's out playing golf somewhere. How convenient.
I'm done with the whiney part of the post, now on to how awesome my second job is. A lot of people tried to make the restaurant industry sound like a terrible place to work (because of all the bitchy customers) but I guess none of them have dealt with a PMSing Bride. Granted, I've only worked at Molly McGuire's since Tuesday and the weekends are notorious for being packed (so tonight may be stressful) but I still love it. I know yall are thinking...Kathryn? Two Jobs? and one she enjoys going to? I thought the same thing. The people at Molly's are hilarious. And far too comfortable with each other...and me even though I've only worked twice. Vick's favorite line of Wednesday night was "Kathryn, I'd sure like to see you in something other than those khaki shorts..." while Patrick rummaged through my purse, planned what shots he's making me take on my 21st (bear fights were mentioned) and offered to spike my Coke (coca-cola, that is...apparently you can't say coke in the restaurant industry without people getting excited and screaming "WHERE?!") Hahaha. But despite the perfect atmosphere I work in at Molly's, it can get stressful...Patrick put me on the schedule for 6 nights next week? and maybe a double? Goodbye grades...moral of the story is that being an adult with endless responsibilities, and at least one job you dislike, really sucks. Here's to growing older but not up as long as we can.

untitled.
1) I am almost positive that I will forever be terrified of scary movies/TV shows. Example: at this very instant, I'm watching a show on TNT called "Supernatural" that I vaguely remember watching in middle school. (It apparently still comes on the CW but the old school ones come on TNT at 10&11am everyday) This shit is just as horrifying as it was back then. Don't take my word for it though...I'm what one would call a "scaredy cat."
2) The parking situation on Tybee has gotten out of hand. I understand it was a holiday weekend but what makes anyone believe the chaos will be any different in the summer? Not to mention, a quarter only gets you 10 minutes of parking? Screw that. I already didn't like Tybee but the extreme lack of parking is going to cut my desire to go to the beach in half. Thank God I got the green light to sit on Izzo's dock whenever and the Talahi dock fence is easy to jump.
3) Saw "The Last Song" last night...and actually liked it. I saw Sarah Thran, Lauren Baker, Happy McCullough, Mrs. Hendrix and Mrs. Adams in it which was pretty awesome. But honestly, to watch Tybee and Wormsloe through the lens of a camera was surreal. For those of you who don't know, the beach house on Tybee used as the Dad's house in the movie belongs to my old roommate, Jamieson Adams...so it was even weirder to watch the house, that I've spent many many summers in, on the big screen. Did I mention that I bawled like a little baby? Yeh...it's a Nicholas Sparks book so it was only to be expected but it's a Miley Cyrus movie so unexpected at the same time.
4) Exactly 2 months from today, I will be 21. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel
5) An even more exciting countdown than my birthday (hard to believe, I know) is that Goolia comes home in 23 DAYSSSS!!!!!!!!!
6) Now if only Sarah, Monica and the Statesboro guys would come back too...
7) I start work at Molly McGuire's today at 5....how in the hell did I go from a person with no jobs to a person with two of them??
8) G-Day game this weekend...wish I was in Athens. Oh wait, thanks to school and work I wont be able to grace the classic city with my presence until this summer.
9) I had an overall successful Easter weekend....minus the worst sunburn of my life, the 3 outfit changes of Easter Sunday thanks to my 4 month old nephew and the fact that I didn't get ANYTHING for Easter. No candy, no basket, no nothing. Getting old sucks.
10) All schools should have the same spring break so I can avoid the envy I have for those that are sitting on the beach right now.
11) Anyone know when TrueBlood and Entourage are coming back???
12) Izzo turned 21 without getting arrested and without puking in my car. Huge achievement.
like the last post, I may come back to this but I'm far too hungry to focus anymore. It's another side effect of hypoglycemia.

It's been a while...
-Spring is coming far too late this year. Well, it's pretty much here now but it's about damn time. Hey, environmentalist crazies, time to rethink the whole "global warming" thing.
-still pretty peeved about the healthcare bill...I guess it's because I'm a poli sci major so I hear about it and all it's flaws everyday.
-I am not cut out for the working world. Shocker, I know.
-Example of above statement: It's going to be 80 and sunny all weekend so I'm "going to NC for easter" when in reality, my happy ass will be either on Tybee or Williamson. Goodbye work, hellooooo beach.
-Yet another one of my friends has turned 21 and Izzo only has 12 more hours. When is going to be my turn???? (68 days in case you lost count)
-Pollen can go back to wherever it came from. I miss my ability to BREATHE.
-Watched a show about rogue waves last night....goodbye chances of getting me on a cruise ship EVER.
-Butttt I'd really like to go on a trip somewhere...bahamas, anyone? No...really...lets go.
-Speaking of trips, anyone interested in the Georgia vs. Colorado game in Boulder in October?
-I want a puppy...and when I get said puppy, I'm naming him Rufio.
-I ordered a bathingsuit from Victoria's Secret yesterday and it's backordered until August 4th...really? What good is a bathingsuit at the end of summer?
-I need to make a trip to Statesboro soon.
-I have two 10 page papers due April 29th...who wants to help me with them?
-Speaking of April 29th...thats when GOOLIA COMES HOME!!!!
-And then when Gools gets home, my summer of being 21 and traveling to Athens, ATL, Mobile and NOLA will begin.
-I'm so very ready to get out of my parents house.
-time to go to class...oh how I HATE class.
-it was a lot easier to focus on school when I lived in Athens. I had Gools to help me write papers and the nearest beach, other than our redneck riviera in the front yard, was 4 hours away. Here, the beach is a tedious yet enjoyable drive from my house and the weather is perfect....beach or school? beach or school? the beach wins out so often.
I'll probably come back to elaborate on this...but thats all I have time for as of now.

Glory Glory to Ole Georgia
For those of you who haven't heard, Mike Adams has created new tailgating regulations on Georgia's North Campus. I for one am not that outraged simply because I usually don't do more that pass through North Campus on the way to the game, and I think he makes good points about preservation, but Shelton's article is just offensive. I have yet to see any sort of uproar from students, fans or alumni of the University so where does she get off being such a sarcastic bitch? Had she made some valid arguments, I wouldn't be as perturbed as I am, but she didn't. Sure, some fans drink heavily before games, but I challenge you to find a college in which pregaming and tailgating doesn't exist. Won't happen. Yeh, some people view football games as social events but they are to an extent...doesn't mean we don't love the sport and our team any less. Good point, there are some students who attend UGA because of football...they're called football players...but the rest have either dreamt of going to UGA since birth, have HOPE scholarship with which UGA is one of few options or they're there for the academics and just simply enjoy the perks of football season. Just because some kids pass out and puke before making it to a game, if they make it at all, doesn't mean we all do. The Bulldawg Nation is made up of people of all ages and genders who have their own reasons for loving UGA but the bottom line is the love is for football. What about all those children that don the Red and Black every saturday? Do you, Samantha, think they're all there to wear dresses and heels while funneling Bud Light? No...they're there to watch their idols play a game between the hedges. What about the 90+yr old alumni that are still true to their team...are they just there to get shitty? No ma'am, they're there to support a team they've worshipped for more years than ignorant people like you should be alive. Dear Samantha Shelton, next time you think about writing such an insulting and sacrilegious article, remember these things...you now have more that 92,746 enemies in the bulldawg nation so watch yourself, THIS is one of the MANY reasons I LOVE Georgia Football:
and last, but not least, GO DAWGS.

recaps and pet-peeves
-I officially came out of my last underage St. Patrick's day unscathed...now the unrestrained fun begins. From here on out, all bets are off.
-unfortunately the weather and parade were on the weak side this year. I get it, the city doesnt want the parade to last all day but it didn't stop and give bands the chance to play nearly enough.
-next year's parade is on a thursday and finally during everyones spring break...and by everyone, I mean the three schools in which all kids from Savannah attend: AASU, UGA and GSU.
-77 days till I'm 21. Slowly but surely getting there.
-I finally got to spend the day on the beach yesterday...if my scotch-irish skin wasnt already doomed to skin cancer, it is now.
-I am not cut out for the 9-5 job. I would much rather spend my days sleeping or out and about than stuck inside a building dealing with bitchy brides.
-spring break is almost over...now starts the bidding for people who would like to write the two 10 page papers I have due in April. Any takers?
Pet-peeve of the week: Text message etiquette..before you go and be vain, this is not about you. This is a compilation of things that personally piss me off, things that annoy others and the God's honest truth.
1) as was explained to me on the beach yesterday, quite a few people use the excuse "my phone isn't working" or "i didn't get it" to avoid the wrath of the avoided friend...I am NOT one of those people. Now, my phone is no piece of shit so if I didn't get your text, it's probably the service or your phone (so jump off me) but it happens quite often. I am deeply sorry that the fact the phone messed up offends you but it's not my problem. You're 20+ years old and know 98734692 people in this town. You know who I hang out with. Call one of them if I'm not responding and you need to get in touch with me.
2) The second scenario of "she never responded" anxiety comes from the fact that I spend 90% of my time at work, school or with my family (with the exception of this week) which makes getting around to replying a very tedious task. I know, you're saying "psh, family is no excuse," well newsflash: when your family is made up of two older brothers (that live less than 1/2 a mile from your house...and own golfcarts) and mulitple small nieces and nephews, it is an excuse. Whenever they're at my house, I'm either chasing the 2yr old tornado, playing dress up with a 7 year old or using both hands to hold an ever-growing 4 month old. Sorry your text/phone call doesn't fit into my family's schedule.
3) A third scenario: I'M EATING, SHOWERING OR ASLEEP. I've been trying desperately to balance a social life with a working life which has resulted in a massive lack of sleep which can only be remedied with copious naps. "Well, I called you...why didn't your phone wake you up?" Well, because when I'm tired, a roaring freight-train won't wake me up. I sleep through everything. If you "really really" need to get in touch with me, which you really don't about 98% of the time, call me multiple times because even if it doesn't wake me up, I will call you back immediately thinking that something is terribly wrong.
4) WARNING: the multiple calls/texts in a row REALLY bothers me. Now, if you have something to say that can only be done with multiple texts, go ahead, send away; But, if you just sent me a text asking what my plans are for the night and then send me ANOTHER one rephrasing the same question less than 5 minutes later, I'm going to ignore you because you pissed me off. Your chance of getting a response decreases with every text/call I get from you within a 45 minute period. That may sound harsh but it's the truth. I saw your text the first time but I either don't know what my plans are yet or my bagel bites are ready and food is far more important than assuring you have a place to get shitfaced tonight. However, if I haven't responded in an hour or more, chances are I'm asleep so you're allowed to text me again.
5) There are few incidents in which I intentionally ignore people but here are a few cases to help you get over the fear "is she ignoring me?" A) Have you pissed me off recently? If the answer is yes then I may be ignoring you on purpose. It's not rocket science people, I'm just sick of your shit. B) Did you send me a drunken text at 4am? If the answer is yes then I'm not responding because, hello, IT'S 4AM. "But you could've responded this morning" Um, no, chances are I woke up in the middle of the night, saw your drunken "whejre asre yoiu" and went back to sleep at which point my mental slate was wiped clean. I roll over in the morning to see who I have to respond to and the answer is no one because you texted me at 4am when I was functioning about as well as a zombie. C) Did I already make it clear that I didn't feel like leaving the house tonight? If so, there is no point in me answering your text/phone call. All you're going to do is say "that's gay" and frankly, it's just a waste of my minutes, time and the attention that would be better spent keeping up with an episode of SVU. D) This one may pack more of a punch than the others but it, too, is the truth. Do you get along with the group of kids you know I'm with already? Well, not do you get along with them because I don't associate with many people that are difficult to hang out with but you know what I mean. Also, has there been recent drama? not necessarily involving you but even just other people you hang out with? Basically, is it going to be awkward if you show up? If so, then there is again no point in me answering your phone call. It is pointless for me to answer knowing that the friends I'm with don't particularly want you to come over. "Oh hey, well yeh I'm at ______'s house...oh no sorry you can't come over." I mean honestly, who wants to be on either end of that phone conversation? Oh wait, no one. So sorry you think I'm a bitch for not responding but you'd think I was an even bigger bitch if I told you that you arent allowed to be where I am. E) Last but not least, it is not my house, boat, car, etc. I simply cannot invite you along on Izzo's boat if he blatantly doesnt have room or just doesn't enjoy your company. That's not always the reason though, maybe there are just too many people tagging along..."oh hey, we're out on the boat but there's no room for you" or "we're at _____'s house having a party but he's afraid the cops are gonna come so no one else is allowed" are also two conversations that no one wants to have. And magically, when they are had, the person delivering the "there's no room for you" news is always dubbed the asshole even though we have no say in the situation. And personally, I'd rather be the one who doesnt answer than be the one that lies about the situation. I prefer avoiding confrontation as opposed to telling you I'm at home only to be caught in a lie when you show up anyway. No one likes liars.
Moral of the story is: 1) DO NOT text/call me repeatedly unless it's spread throughout the day. 2) If I say I didn't get it, I didn't get it. 3) If I didn't answer, there are a plethora of reasons as to why so don't assume I'm being a bitch or ignoring you, I'm just tired, busy, not by the phone, etc.

spring fever
Well, minus the test I had to take and the fact that I skipped yet another class, today was the best day I've had in a long time. It has recently been brought to my attention, almost everyone has been having just an all-around rough time...be it because of Robbie, the stress of school, the unrelenting cold or whatever else people are dealing with. I just hope that today was as therapeutic for everyone else as it was for me.
I began my day by sleeping in....f-ing finally. I haven't had the capactiy to sleep past 10am for the past couple of months but not today; today, I slept till 11:30. Though really all that means is that I went to bed too late, I'm sick and funerals are exhausting, there is still something refreshing about sleeping in, am I right? But here comes the fun part...I woke up in the nick of time (i googled it, that's the proper spelling of the saying) to make it to class but failed to remember that I had a test today. No worries though, the guy who sits next to me made a 96 on the last one.....after taking the test and realizing I had an hour to blow before my next class, I made the horrible decision to cal Sarah.
For those of you that haven't figured it out yet, Sarah is a horrible influence and often talks me into doing things against my will. Today, she just so happened to convince me to skip a class, that I'm already close to being dropped from, to go layout with her in her driveway. Well, I spent all of yesterday crying and sleeping so I decided that we both deserved some sun so I skipped class. Hah...like I even gave it a second thought. Soon after I got to her house, and had to squeeze myself into one of her bathingsuits, Izzo called...haha what an entertaining kid. After laying in the driveway (and getting a very faint tan-line) Mallory called to say that we were finally getting a boat day.
It's official, today was my first boat day since August. It was a little cold, and by cold I mean numbingly freezing, but it was beautiful and I got to be on a boat so that's all that matters and I have nothing to complain about. Well, actually, I've lost my sea legs and hope to find those again soon because losing my balance every 10 seconds is no fun. Oh, and of course we were on Williamson for no more than 10 minutes when I decided to make spring/summer official by slicing my toe open on an oyster shell. Only me.
Today was perfect and much needed; only two days till I'm on spring break; one and a half days till butt naked trivia at Island Daiquiri; 6 days, 23 hours and 22 minutes until St. Patrick's day....now if only the rain will hold off

you find out who your friends are
At 1pm today, we all gathered at St. James to say goodbye to Robbie...it was a hell of a lot tougher than I was expecting it to be. Not only because he was only 21 and just an all-around great guy, but because of the things that were said and the emotional outbursts that I saw. Of course, funerals are places where emotional episodes are more than expected and not judged but it wasn't the emotion, it was who it was coming from. Before I even say this, I know it's a prehistoric way of thinking, but it's what I've known until these last few years: it KILLS me when males cry...kills me, I tell you. It's partially because I have the "damsel in distress" mentality that most females experience when something has gone wrong and also because I'm a protector and I feel as if guys are so much harder to protect; especially if they've already been pushed to that emotional breaking point (because we all know guys have this deranged ideal that crying isn't ok). My personal experience is that guys get angry and scream and break things and cuss and drink until it all becomes too much and all they can do is sleep...it's how they get through it and I completely understand but that behavior hurts me more than anything else because I can't do anything to make them feel better...theyre hard headed. Gah I just want to give them all hugs and just hold them till it all goes away...going to get emotional again just thinking about it...change of topic.
Well, not really. Today was my first funeral experience in which people actually spoke about the deceased...and good god I lost it. Robbie's teachers had some absolutely fantastic things to say about him which made me smile but they also impacted me more than the typical funeral speech given by the priest. They told stories about him and his half smile, his courage, protective nature, friendly capacity and being faster than he looks...hahaha...but Ms. Burke was the deal breaker. First, she addressed the Ryans; she talked about how hard it is to bury a child (especially two days after a mother/grandmother) and how short Robbie's life was but told us not to be upset because at least he was here. She (or maybe the Priest, to be quite honest I couldn't even see straight so thinking straight wasn't possible) recited a poem about losing children that will now forever make me sob (i'll post it at the end of this) but her speech aimed at fellow Cadets, and friends in general, was what got me thinking. She said something along the lines of: "on your ring day, I told you to look around; the friends standing around would be the ones that will walk down the aisle with you, the ones that will be your children's Godparents and the ones that will be there when it was time to bury a parent. But I left something out. I didn't leave it out to be deceiving but simply because the thought was too horific to put into words: those people will be the ones that will be there when it comes time to bury one of your own." It was a harsh reminder that Robbie was too young and that death comes at every age. It was a reminder that we need to take a look around more often and really focus on friends.
If you've read this blog before, you know that I feel as if I've lost touch with many people that were far too important to lose touch with. I have vowed to change that and thank you, Robbie, for reminding me to actually do so. Back in highschool, before I even had the pleasure of meeting about 90% of the people I currently associate with, I had one of the greatest groups of friends anyone could ask for. I know, you think your friends are great and fun but you have no idea what a friend is until you face the tragedy we did. Don't get me wrong, we all have reasons for having the friends we do but a lot can be said for the kids that will stick around through the tough stuff. And by tough stuff, I don't mean petty fights, I mean the deaths of loved ones. Sure, everyone will feel sorry for you and maybe feel close enough to call or send a "sorry" text; but I want you to look around and ask yourself how many of those people will just sit with you? How many of your friends will come and cry, scream, console and remember with you? How many of those kids do you share a close enough bond with to even want to talk about things such as death and depression? When you narrow it down, take the group that will, call them and tell them you love them.
As I've said, I've regrettably lost touch with many of my friends in that specific grouping but I am relieved for two reasons: 1) With the death of Robbie, I re-realized that those friends are still the ones that call and make sure I'm ok and vice-versa. And though we don't get to see each other enough, we share a bond and a mentality that will last forever. We will always pick up the phone or go console when we need to. We don't need to ask, we know when we're needed. 2) I have recently, again, picked an exquisite group of friends. Some, I have known for years. Some were known, lost and recently rediscovered while others are completely new experiences. Either way, we now share that same bond. The bond in which we all understand each others pain, need for silence, need for laughter and need for that one simple gesture to show that we care. We are comfortable enough to cry and delve deep into our regrets from the past (there are specific instances for all the examples but I've decided to leave people and the emotional turmoil out of this). I'm automatically at ease with them. I know we can talk about whatever, whenever and we're all on the same page. I've literally been hanging out with some of these kids for no more than a few months and every single one accompanied our goodbye hug with an "I love you." I'm so blessed and it's times like these that remind me.
Ugh, alright, enough. It's way past my bedtime and today was far too exhausting to even describe but I'm going to leave you with this sappy comment and poem: please please please stop and just take a moment to tell your friends and family you love them. I know people say that all the time but not everyone gets constant reminders like this. I'm going to go to school tomorrow and pass the spot in which I talked to Robbie everyday just wishing I could press rewind, stop him one day just to say I love you instead of the usual "lets catch up sometime." So, please, don't wait. Life doesn't come with a rewind button.
The Poem:
It may be six or seven years
He'll bring his smiles to gladden you,
I cannot promise he will stay,
I've looked this world over
Now will you give him all your love,
I fancied that I heard then say,
The risk of grief we'll run.
But should the angels call for him

only the good die young
The only thing that gets me through these situations is something my dad once told me: look at the world as a garden and each living creature is a flower...when you go to the garden to pick flowers to take inside your house, admire and love, do you pick the old rotten ones? No. You pick the brightest, purest, most perfect and beautiful flowers you can find. Well, thats what God has done. It was time for him to pick another perfect flower from the garden; and today, that was Robbie.
Robbie was not a life-long friend of mine, unfortunately, but judging by the short couple of years I've known him, I know why he had so many. He was always so genuine and kind; so sweet and caring. He was literally the gentle giant...so protective and helpful. I could go on and on about all the things he's done for me and what a great guy he was but I'll spare the details and super depressing blog post. Thanks Robbie, for everything you did for me; for being so kind, so protective and most importantly, giving me the chance to know you...I'm going to miss talking to you on campus everyday. Even when I didn't get to talk to you, I saw your truck parked almost always in a faculty spot hahaha give Jennifer, Billy, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Coe and the Shivers a hug for me...you will be missed<3

Happy Birthday
I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the importance of today (well, technically yesterday since it's after midnight) but first, a preface: More than 2 years ago, my dear friend (and other half) Helen Lales reluctantly decided to embark on a 5 hour journey from Athens to spend a weekend with me in Charleston. I was originally planning on Jonathan and Helen being the two to invade my tiny downtown apartment but they soon informed me that a girl, whom I'd never met but for a brief drunken moment on St. Patty's Day, was going to be tagging along. Naturally, the news didn't phase me because I was just too excited to see Helen to even care. Little did I know the experience I was in for: a best friend. As sappy as that sounds, I am not exaggerrating when I say that Kaitlyn, Sarah and Julia make up 3/4ths of me. As I'm about to explain, Kaitlyn's fourth is just a drunken one...Hannay and Helen arrived in Charleston on a friday afternoon sometime late in our second semester of freshman year (judging by the slight tan and strapless dresses) and all I can say is that Hannay put the drunken UGA freshman to shame with her performance. I think it's safe to state a warning that you probably wont think this is as funny as we do because you werent there...but it's also safe to say that this is the story I will be telling at Kaitlyn's wedding so get used to it.We began the night at a delicious restaurant (which are so frequent in Charleston) and then moved out to North Charleston to pregame at Robin's house (Robin can be seen flicking someone off, most likely jonathan, in the background of the picture above). After pregaming a little too hard at Robin's (freshmen, remember?), we decided it was a wise decision to take the pregame to a party somewhere else in north charleston...about 5 minutes after arriving at said party, Helen and I saw Kaitlyn attempt to wander down the stairs...hahahahaha and by attempt to wander, I mean not-so-gracefully bust ass. She mingled, drank and fell down the steps for a little while longer until she decided to pass out on the couch. We babysat her for about 30 minutes before I decided that I didn't know her well enough to sacrifice my own fun and Helen decided the house was safe enough to leave her asleep on the couch. Bad Decision. No, not bad decision because something happened to her, a bad decision because she found us and yelled about the possibilities of being raped or whatnot...during her rant, I somehow snuck away when she screamed "Helen, take me home!" Since Helen wasnt ready to leave, and decided to be evil, she told Hannay to go find me; I, being sneaky, sent her back to Helen. We literally sent the poor girl back and forth for an hour just to avoid leaving the party early...at one point, I had to drop my drink and take off running around the side of the house just to dodge the possibility of her catching Helen and I together (why she decided to remain friends with us, I'll never know). After an additional hour of torture, and an hour of tears, we decided to take one for the team and go home. We woke up the next morning with a brilliant story and the headaches to show for it but it was probably the best first impression I've ever shared with someone. Kaitlyn, here's to over two years (and hopefully many more) of a complicated relationship and the fact that you'll never have to wear an orange jumpsuit against your will (due to alcohol, anyway) haha...Happy 21st Birthday!!!!!
p.s. to all the other (like, 4) readers, I'm finally in the double digits...97 days till my 21st!! and of course, it's officially march so 16 days til St. Patty's Dayyyyy!! Now off to bed, work, school, carpool and then a sleepless night of paper writing before my much overdue mini-vacation to Charleston, Spring Break and St. Patty's Day. F-ing finally.

rediscoveries
and this would be one of the 9782497642 reasons I love soccer and will not die happy until I experience real soccer somewhere outside of the U.S. If you don't laugh at this, I must just be really easily entertained.
again, another soccer video but the title is very true...you can watch this 100 times in a row and you'll still laugh every time. The laughing might have lightened up over the past two years since it was posted but it's still funny.
You Can Watch This 100 Times And Still Laugh - The funniest movie is here. Find it

Shiny Toy Syndromes and Silver Linings
For those of yall that don't know me very well, I suffer from something my mom refers to as "shiny toy syndrome." Every couple of weeks or months or so, I go through this stage where everything in my life just sucks. I get sick of everything and sometimes everyone that surrounds me and the only way to fix it is with shiny new toys. Now, these "toys" could range anywhere from something material like a car, clothes, jewelry and accessories to things like vacations, nights out on the town, dinner out, alcohol, new flings and new friends. Needless to say, I don't need or get 98% of the new things I want but I still can't help but get bored.
If you haven't figured it out yet, I am currently in a "shiny toy" week for some reason. It could be my unbearable excitement for the greatest and happiest day of the year (st. patty's day) or maybe my upcoming trip to the beautiful shopping mecca of Charleston, SC? Or maybe it's the impending arrival of my first official paycheck? Whatever it is, I truly hate this feeling. It's a short but excruciating time in which nothing and no one can please me.
Actually, I take that back...everything that is unsettling me is making me happy at the same time...why is my life so complex?
1) The fact that NO ONE sells green clothing is still weighing hard on my mind as St. Patty's day draws near but the fact that it's less than a month away makes me giddy. And let it be known that when I say giddy, I mean abnoxiously and ridiculously excited; just the thought of the day makes me grin from ear to ear and jump up and down like a school girl.
2) Work stung worse than ever this weekend...while all of my friends were out getting drunk on Williamson, my ass was sitting at work. No, wait, not just at work, INSIDE at work. It was the prettiest day of the year (until today) and I had to sit inside and hustle wedding dresses. It was the busiest day I've experienced so far yet not a thing was purchased...what a waste of my time. However, as much as I hate the retail world, my mom made a good point: sometimes jobs are meant to show us what we don't want to do; I used to think I never wanted to work in retail...now I know. But on the flip-side, I get a paycheck this friday...hellllll yeh.
3) I have two 7-page papers due on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. As usual, I am blogging instead of writing them but at least I have a topic for one! Ruth Bader Ginsburg vs. Clarence Thomas....what a relief. What is the silver lining of two papers (that I haven't started) being due this week, you ask? Well, the silver lining is that they'll finally be off my shoulders!!! If that doesn't instantly make me happy, then my life is a lost cause.
4) I am really starting to feel the stress associated with telling my parents that I'm dropping a class but I'm closer to getting the money to pay them off my back. If you didn't understand that last comment, my parents always jump on my back about dropping classes because of the "money it wastes" but this time I will get to shut them up by paying them back. Though I'm not excited to watch my money go 649762974569 times faster than it came, I'm thoroughly happy that my parents will really have no reason to yell at me. I only hope that they'll let me reimburse them slowly so that I can spend my money in Charleston...
5) I am utterly sick of everything involving cold weather. I'm sick of fires and I'm sick of scarves. I'm sick of long sleeves and I'm sick of jeans. I'm sick of jackets, socks, cold feet, chapped lips, static hair and the lack of vitamin D. Not to mention what torture it is to live 10 feet from the river, having and wanting to look at it all day long, just knowing that it's too cold to play in. There isn't much of a silver lining when talking about cold weather but regardless of the temperature, it still smells like spring, the sun is up longer and the birds chirp away all day long. Now if we could just bypass the bugs, I'd be happy.
6) Last but certainly not least, I miss my friends more than I've ever had to in my life. Sarah, Monica and Kaitlyn are in Athens and Julia is all the way in Italy. Skype has been a life saver and it's nice that I'm not the only isolated friend but it still sucks to hear about all the fun everyone is having together while I'm home alone. Well, I'm not home alone...Izzo, Ike, Bo and Jarrett are my heroes in this town and I owe my sanity to them. We have a great time just bullshitting around a fire, popping wheelies in golf carts and even just driving around Willmington Island but I can't help but feel that massive chunk of my life that's missing. That chunk is actually a major source of my unsettled feeling...Brian said something to me the other day that really brought it home: "come up here and visit...you know we all miss you more than you think." Until that comment, I always considered myself expendable; though I miss the ever-living shit out of those guys, there's no way they even notice that I'm not around, right? Wrong...those guys only live 45 minutes away (I've made it in 30) and I am making a vow to spend more time up there. Of all the things I've done in my life, the thing I regret the absolute most is letting these kids get out of reach. Silver lining: it's almost spring break and my schedule is clearing up...if yall are somehow reading this, get ready because I am attaching myself to yalls hips from here on out.
enough of the stress and on the the great things I've discovered recently:
1) I can't say it enough, ST. PATTY'S DAY IS ALMOST HERE!!! I really think I love this holiday more than many others do...
2) I am almost in the double-digits of my birthday countdown! since a lot of people don't understand what that means for some reason, let me explain: my birthday is 104 days away...therefore, in 5 days, my birthday will be 99 days away. 99 is a double digit. Understand? If you don't, you're not worth my time and explanation anyway.
3) I am well on my way to regaining the old me. I went downtown last night against my will. I was planning on leaving by 1 because I was tired and wasn't in the mood to drink, as usual, but then something miraculous happened. I drank and drank and danced and stayed until 2:30. I didn't feel sick while trying to sleep and I wasn't hungover this morning. Hello, old me...where the hell ya been?
4) Today was perfect (minus the stress of these papers). The weather was beautiful, I got to sleep in this morning, Renee and I went on a walk for the first time in 3 weeks and it felt great. Not to mention that we went downtown for lunch and a quick shopping trip just to soak up the weather. Copper Penny had the most beautiful clothes, as usual, though I didn't buy myself a shiny new toy...primarily because the dress that I fell in love with was $300 which not even I can talk myself into spending on a dress to spill alcohol all over...back to the charleston thing: God, I can't wait to go on my mini vacation.

Thoughts of the Day
1) Who I would want to be if I wasn't me: Kat Von D. (rhyme not intentional)

I'm going to start by saying don't judge me. Even though my parents have often made the point, and I quote: "You can pay to get a tattoo but I will pay a doctor to sew you up after I shave it off your skin," I've still always had the faint idea of getting a tiny tattoo...so I figure that if I wasn't me, why not be someone with over 130 of them. I know that you still think I'm crazy but give her a chance. I happen to think Kat Von D (Katherine Von Drachenberg to be exact) is incredibly gorgeous in a total hardass kind of way. Hah no I'm not a lesbo...just watch LA Ink a few times and you'll agree with me. Besides, there's always been a part of me that's wanted to have the ability to roll out of bed looking super disheveled yet make it look totally intentional. Kat encompasses that ability and the hardass persona but don't be fooled...she absolutely loves what she does and she's the best at it. Sure, people go in to the shop to get erroneous tattoos but some people go in there to get them for very viable reasons...deaths in the family, cancer survivors, etc; she gets to give those people something to look at in awe and rememberance for the rest of their lives. Gah, I wish that kind of job existed in my future. She's my new obsession if you couldn't tell.
2) I wish I was seeing green: Clothing companies reallyyyyy need to start making more things in the color green...not mossy, sage green, I mean kelly green. I have searched every website humanly imaginable and cannot find a single green piece of clothing. Not one. No shirts, no dresses, no skirts, no sweaters...I haven't even found a green bathingsuit for the love of God. What the hell am I supposed to wear on St. Patrick's Day?? Ok, green isn't the easiest color to wear and it's not a color that people wear often but you'd think that at least one store out there would bank on the fact that people really enjoy St. Patricks day...or maybe I'm just spoiled? I've never seen St. Patty's Day outside of Savannah and am happy to say that I'll never have to.
3) What is wrong with me? I have two 7-page papers due on Wednesday and Thursday of next week but I have yet to even think of a TOPIC! Am I the only one that finds everything else under the sun that much more important than grades? I can just feel the stress stockpiling on top of me but as of now, the Real Housewives of Orange County are wayyyy more entertaining. Reality TV is my new best friend.
I had more to say but it's almost 11 and therefore way past my bed time so I have grown old and forgotten...

Hindsight is 20/20
I know, I know, I'm only 20. I didn't need to know anything when I was younger...wrong. Until now, I looked back at the summer of '08 as the best summer I have ever had; and frankly, if this summer doesn't top it, nothing will (reminder, I'll finally be 21). I found and became friends with some of the greatest people I have ever met...and to think it all began with some wookie kid who liked to call himself "Izzo" and a game of flip cup. At first, I was hesitant when he and his friend Phil asked me to join them on an innocent trip to Williamson, but I soon found out that it was the best decision I have ever made...but what went wrong? Oh yeh, me. Don't misunderstand me, these kids are still my best friends (and I am damned-determined to keep it that way though I've managed to fill my life with superfluous adult crap...not anymore) but as Sarah so wisely said, hindsight is 20/20. I had some great things going for me that I managed to screw up...shocker.
Here's my current hindsight:
- High School - I only have two things I would've changed about highschool:
1) Now that my mom realizes how ridiculous a $17,000 tuition is, I should've pushed transferring out of SCDS a little bit harder.
2) I probably should have spent less time on jackasses while spending more time solidifying relationships that would have made my life easier...or less of a highschool sob-story.
3) No, I have nothing to say about academics and study habits...I am me so regardless of what GPA I graduadted with or what college I went to, I would still be at AASU right now. Home just makes everything better.
- Summer of '08 -
1) Even back then I knew that summer was the best yet but I had no idea it was going to be the best ever. Had I known that, I probably would've devoted myself to more certain things instead of playing the "it's only summer...it will end" game with myself.
2) I have got to stop being so f-ing oblivious. Apparently, my oblviousness threw up walls between me and people that it shouldn't have. Though I'm still not fully convinced that my friends couldn't have tried a little harder to point out all the shit I was doing wrong, I do agree that I need to stop assuming that I'm always in the "friend zone."
3) I wish I was as mature then as I am now...haha...ok so maybe I'm not the most mature person out there but having the ability to express my feelings would've reallyyyyyy made my life a hell of a lot less frustrating.
4) I should've focused on the future a little more. I made such rash decisions just because I didn't care enough about anything to want to work on it. Little did I know, it was going to come back to bite me in the ass. Now, thanks to Sarah's "brain seed," all I can think about is how happy I could've been had I known what I know now, when I was younger.
Oh the things I would do to be able to relive my life the right way...

Random Tangents
I live in Savannah, GA for a reason: the average high here this time of the year is in the mid-to-upper 60's (so says the weather channel) which is still a little chilly but better than the freaking 50 degree weather I've had to deal with these past couple of weeks. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure that this has been the coldest winter we've had since the late 80's? I'm SO sick of the cold. SO SO sick of the cold. No really, you want to know how sick? Sick enough to take all of the cold weather clothes out of my closet and put them in the guest bedroom closet...I can't even look at them anymore. I am praying for a warm spring break and St. Patty's Day (only 36 more days!) and I've never been so happy to have a summer birthday because I KNOW it will be warm enough (117 more days...i'm getting there).
Ugh Mondays...
I was having a horrible case of the Mondays after a decently entertaining weekend. Donnie and Jonathan came down from Statesboro again which meant yet another trip out to Cafe Loco was made. It so happened that Andrew was playing a gig out there which soon topped my list of hilarious events. After a soft-core pornographic photo shoot with the Indian tiki-man in the corner of the room, an insanely drunk woman decided to make her singing debut with Andrew. Not only could she not sing, she had to look up the lyrics for "Hotel California" on her cell phone; she then ended her performance by luring Andrew into a kissy death-trap. It was priceless. But back to my case of the Mondays: I woke up this morning feeling completely stressed, exhausted and unmontivated...until my long-lost best friend FINALLY got the internet!!! For those of you that still don't know, Julia has been gone for 2 weeks but just got internet today so I got to talk to her for the first time. I've never been so happy.
It's almost concert season...
While I wait for SCAD to decide who's coming for the concert in the park, I'm going to line up my summer concert schedule. All I've got so far is the Gov't Mule and Dave Matthews Band concert in Atlanta of Jula 27 but I'm pretty optimistic about my other up-coming options...However, I would greatly appreciate some company for the DMB concert if anyone is interested!
I'm going to try to be more of a girl this summer...
There I go again, thinking ahead to summer...I just can't help it. But, I spent most of last summer in shorts and tank tops because they were easy and most of my days/nights were spent sitting on a dock...not this summer though. I'll be 21 so downtown savannah and tybee are going to squeeze themselves into my nightlife more often so I'm resurrecting the dresses and heels again. Not only am I going to be a girl, I'm going to be a grown up.

Toddlers & Tiaras
